About Melrose Sweet Almond Oil
Almond Oil is rich in monounsaturated fat, one of the two "good" fats responsible for lowering LDL (the bad) cholesterol. It contains 66% monounsaturated oleic acid, an omega-9 fat, and 25% omega-6 polyunsaturated essential fatty acid. Along with a nutty taste, the oil has a slight odor and can also be substituted for olive oil.
Sweet almond oil is one of the most well-known and commonly used carrier oils. With its light, non greasy weight and high fatty acid content that can nourish and soothe skin, sweet almond oil is popular as a massage oil and bath additive.
Melrose Fresh Unrefined Oils will impart extra aroma and flavor as well as nutritional benefits, just like any other whole food which has not been denatured or processed.
Good quality oils need to be expeller-pressed at temperatures below 45oC and not solvent extracted. They should not be subjected to high heat temperatures, deodorizing, bleaching or alkali refining. Melrose Organic Unrefined oils are produced by pressing seeds at less than 40oC. The oil is then bottled under nitrogen and packed in amber glass to reduce both photon and auto-oxidation preserving both the nutritional value and the fresh taste.
