About Pure Life Sourdough Sprouted Khorasan & Sunflower Bread
PURE LIFE started producing sprouted bread at Myocum, northern NSW in 1988.
In 1990 the operation moved down the road to coastal Yamba where it still operates as a family business.
Pure Life aim to produce the healthiest bread available and we are certain that they do.
The plain loaves are made from Demeter certified Biodynamic grains soaked in filtered water in stainless steel vats in a controlled atmosphere. The water is drained and the grain is grown into healthy sprouts. When ready the sprouts are minced, shaped into a loaf and oven baked at a relatively low temperature. We use a trace amount of extra virgin olive oil to help release the loaf from the baking pan.
SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF
Gluten content is reduced by approximately 50%.
The acidic grain becomes an alkaline forming sprout.
Phytate which reduces the absorption of minerals is markedly reduced.
A high proportion of people allergic to a grain (not coeliacs) are able to consume the sprout or bread made from it.
Vitamin and mineral levels increase and they are easier to absorb.
Hard to digest complex starches are converted to natural sugars by the enzyme amylase making the sprout or bread easier to digest.
Fats and oils are converted into more simple fatty acids by the enzyme lipase.
Spouting produces vitamin C and increases vitamin B and carotene levels.
Sprouting changes the grain to a young plant which is more like a vegetable than a grain.
